Supernova
I am in a large ballroom with hundreds of laptop computers running at the plaza hotel in downtown San Francisco. It is 82 degrees outside (very hot for SF), brazil just beat Japan 4-1, and there are bloggers everywhere. I am at a Web 2.0 conference! Finally a real time blog posting from me on the road. This was the coming out event for ChipIn as I was able to give a demo at a technology showcase last night telling all sorts of random people about what we are doing. Today I now am at the actual conference listening to people talk about all sort of topics, from new search vectors online, where communities are going, and online gaming. It is amazing what is happening today and being back in the thick of things in SF really showcases the amazing thinking that is pushing our online world.
I have met some amazing folks and have had a great chance to run through our elevator pitch a couple of hundred times. Everyone really gets what ChipIn is trying to do and how our social ecommerce platform can fit into most everything that is happening online today. I met a couple guys working on a site called socialpicks that allows budding investors to post their thoughts on different stocks and companies (perfect yahoo finance acquisition maybe??). Had a nice chat with Matt from Edgeio who even made an introduction to a company we may fit with. I also ran into an old colleague from my Stanford days who was a founder of Blogger and now works at Google. Great to see Jason.. he is doing super well. Much more to report, but with so many people online the connection is pretty slow. Needless to say I have some great new ideas for ChipIn.
