How ChipIn can help

Came across a couple of pretty cool ChipIn events on our system today that are raising money for some pretty great projects. One in particular is a girl named Mia who qualifed for the National Junior Olympics in the 1500m and 3000m. You can see her open event here and even contribute. The organizer set up the event as an open event which means that they have a public link (http://events.chipin.com/14844b1d5339de0a) that allows anyone to contribute by either receiving the link via email or posting onto a website.

You can easily create a flash based ChipIn widget for your events. You can insert the widget on almost any website or blog including myspace, blogger, bebo, and many others. The flash widget is fully customizable and allows you to change the widget size, color, and content. You have to make your ChipIn event “open” in order to use the widget. See the FAQ for more information.

Thanks for posting about our ChipIn! I like the widget a lot. It is too wide to fit in my sidebar, but I added it to my comments page. That way, anyone who leaves a comment also gets a little reminder that we are raising money.

    this is a question
if i want to collect money for an event
then i must have my own site and link it to yours?
is there a way to go to the chip in site and look for the event and cntribute like that.
you have a great idea but the implementation is more difficult than it should be. i recommended you to my friend who is collecting money, the first thing he said is can you trust them to send the money once they collect it? i said well pay pal checked them out,
the whole idea is to make it easy to give. thanks

    Kathy,

No, you do not need to have your own website to collect money using ChipIn. Simply register for an account on ChipIn.com (it’s free), and your events will be stored on our website. Our goal is to make collecting funds simple, easy and fun! Some ChipIn users elect to take it a step further, and advertise their ChipIn event on a website/blog using our widget. What a great way to reach more potential contributors and raise as much money as possible!

    5. To give you an idea of how ChipIn has helped others, I have provided the link to a Public Chipin event. The organizer exceeded her goal and raised more money than she expected. The funds were sent immediately to the beneficiary. Public ChipIn link: http://events.chipin.com/14844b1d5339de0a
    6. Here is feedback from the organizer of the above event, to give you an idea of her experience using our services:
“When I started my ChipIn, I had no idea what to expect. My daughter needed to raise money to go to the Junior Olympics and we didn’t have much time to do it. Although I set my goal at $1000, I didn’t think we would raise that much money. I hoped to get a hundred or so to cover a couple of meals. The ChipIn closed this morning and we raised $1245! That is amazing! Not only will be able to pay for all of our meals, but it will also cover the hotel and rental car.”

    Best,
    ~Michelle
