Times are changing
Lots of new activity at Chipin as usual. Customers are lined up waiting for our new product, engineering is repackaging core technology to offer a white label product, and we instituted fees today. We were going to roll out fees last week as seen by my previous blog post, but we delayed release for a bit while we packaged a bunch of small bug fixes and performance enhancements.
The past week has been fun, but tedious as we have been working on the business requirements for the new system. Tim and team wanted me to get everything out of my head regarding design and functionality. Basically what were Todd and I selling to clients… and what were the must have features to deliver. I normally take a more agile approach to product development, but this was a compromise to give the team a big picture. We learned so much from our previous two versions of Chipin that we are now using to build a better system.
Not to depart too much from the lightweight dev environment I like to cultivate, I asked the entire team to read “Getting Real” by 37 Signals today. We need to find a balance approach that works for our team. Nothing is ever out of the box ready, even great books. But there are some nuggets that our team have taken to heart in buiding what we call the Chipin Widget Management Service (WMS)
On another note, we dismissed one of our original founders Song Choi yesterday. His separation from the company was immediate. A blog is never a forum to talk about such an event, so I have no further comment at this time.
